Samsung appears set to make another conservative move with wired charging on its next flagship phones. A 3C certification listing dated September 1, 2026, shows the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ with the same charging capabilities used by their recent predecessors.
The listing identifies the Galaxy S27 as model SM-S9520 and the Galaxy S27+ as SM-S9560. Both are certified without a higher wired charging specification.
25W for the Galaxy S27, 45W for the S27+
According to the certification, the Galaxy S27 supports charging up to 25W, while the Galaxy S27+ supports up to 45W.
The listing specifies multiple supported input combinations, including 5V/2A and higher-voltage profiles. It also explicitly states that the phones will be sold without a charging adapter, with the USB-C cable provided in the box.
That makes the charging hardware look familiar rather than upgraded.
Samsung has maintained a 25W ceiling on its standard Galaxy S flagship since the Galaxy S20 generation in 2020. The larger S+ model moved to 45W with the Galaxy S22+ in 2022 and has remained there since.
The numbers matter less than the lack of change
On paper, 25W is modest compared with charging systems used by several competing Android flagships, where 80W, 100W or higher wired charging is available.
Samsung’s 45W figure also hasn’t changed for several generations. The S27+ therefore appears unlikely to deliver shorter charging times through a higher peak input rate alone.
Real-world charging performance depends on more than the headline wattage. Battery capacity, thermal limits, and how long a phone can sustain its maximum input all affect the final result. Still, keeping the same ratings means users should not expect a major shift in charging behavior from the S26 series.
The bigger question is whether Samsung has made other changes to compensate. A more efficient battery, improved thermal management, or different charging curves could alter the experience even without raising the peak figure.
For buyers, the continued omission of a power adapter also means the advertised 25W or 45W capability may require an existing compatible charger or a separate purchase. Samsung appears to be keeping that part of the flagship package unchanged too.
