Galaxy S25 Series will support Qi2 wireless charging: Report

Wireless charging has become a must-have on premium smartphones, and its absence is often a dealbreaker for many people.

According to leaker Jukanlosreve, Ice Universe revealed in a conversation that Samsung’s upcoming flagship Galaxy S25 series is set to receive an upgrade in this regard.

The company is planning to transition from Qi wireless charging to the latest Qi2 standard. But there is more to that.

The Qi2 wireless charging standard comes in two profiles — the Extended Power Profile and the Magnetic Power Profile. The only difference between both is that a smartphone with a magnetic power profile has magnets built inside.

These magnets ensure proper attachment and alignment for maximum efficiency while charging wirelessly. Smartphones that come with the Extended Power Profile make use of cases that have magnets attached to them. Keep in mind that they both serve the same purpose and support up to 15W of wireless charging.

Coming back to the Galaxy S25 series, it is not yet clear which profile Samsung will decide to go with. Note that the magnetic power profile is extremely rare in the Android world. At least, that is the case for now. It will surely increase in popularity as more brands start adopting the Qi2 wireless charging standard.

We will have to wait for the official announcement to see if this rumor is true. The Galaxy S25 series will likely be launched at Galaxy Unpacked, scheduled for January 22, 2025.
