At CES 2025, AMD announced its next-generation graphics cards, which are known as the new Radeon RX 9070 series. In addition to that, as expected, the company revealed its FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4) technology. FSR 4 arrives as AMD’s next-gen upscaling technology, and it seems to be a successor to the FSR 3/ 3.1 tech. The new FSR 4 tech is specially designed for its RDNA 4 architecture.
Now, Radeon RX 9070 XT card users can enjoy the FSR 4 tech that will bring high-quality 4K upscaling. The new tech packs both FSR upscaling and Frame Generation. AMD adds latency reduction through Anti-Lag 2 for frame generation.
List of graphics cards that will support FSR 4
- Radeon RX 9070 XT
- Radeon RX 9070
For now, FSR 4 will only work on the RX 9070 series GPUs. Both the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 are built on AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture, which has big improvements in AI and ray tracing. These GPUs feature second-gen AI accelerators and third-gen ray-tracing accelerators to deliver better gaming performance. It seems these cards can compete with Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 Super.
List of games that will support FSR 4
AMD says that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be one of the first games to get FSR 4 support. In addition, any game that already works with FSR 3.1 will be compatible with the new tech too. Below, we have listed some FSR 3.1 games that will also support FSR 4 in the future:
- 7 Days to Die
- ARK: Survival Ascended
- The Axis Unseen
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
- Everspace 2
- Farming Simulator 25
- Final Fantasy XVI
- Frostpunk 2
- God of War Ragnarök
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Remnant II
You can see the full list on the pcgamingwiki website, which lists all FSR 3.1 supported games.
As of now, AMD hasn’t said much about how FSR 4 stacks up against Nvidia’s DLSS in terms of image quality or performance. The Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 could launch in the first quarter of 2025. More details about FSR 4’s performance should come in the next few weeks.
