In the race of manufacturing affordable 5G processors for smartphones, Samsung has finally stepped into it. Samsung has recently launched its latest Exynos 880 5G chipset. The Exynos 880 processor bundled a lot of features. The Chip has integrated 5G connectivity with better task handling capacity than its predecessors. The CPU and GPU units provide seamless gaming experience and high-quality gameplay graphics. The Artificial Intelligence of the processor delivers the smarter and smoother mobile experience to the users. The Exynos 880 processor features Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and Digital Signal Processor (DSP) that improves response time and security. The main highlight of the Exynos 880 processor is, it is mid-range chipset which will be housed in affordable 5G devices. Since it is a mid-range 5G processor, so its competitor would likely be the Snapdragon 768G and the MediaTek Dimensity 820 chipset.

The Exynos 880 chipset features a powerful Octa-core CPU. Two cores of Arm Cortex-A77 and six cores of Arm Cortex- A55 delivers the best performance and easy multi-tasking with a super-fast response. The Cortex-A77 cores offer clock speed of 2.0GHz while the Cortex-A55 cores give clock speed of 1.8GHz. The A77 cores are responsible for advanced computing power and the A55 cores are responsible for higher power efficiency. Samsung has manufactured the processor with Samsung’s 8nm FinFET process which results in maximum power-efficiency for long-lasting gameplay. The powerful CPU unit of the processor results in faster loading times during gameplay with lag-less and smooth gaming experience.

The Exynos 880 Chip features Arm Mali -G76 MP5 GPU which is capable of supporting high-quality graphics and improved gaming performance. The powerful GPU of the processor renders 3D graphics in games with a high frame rate. Together with the advanced CPU and GPU units, the Exynos 880 processor could be termed as a game-centric processor.

Talking more about the Exynos 880 5G processor, the chip supports a single-camera maximum resolution of 64MP and a dual-camera resolution of 20MP. The processor features advanced image signal processor which supports upto five individual sensors. The chip can process upto three sensors simultaneously. Video recording of 4K 30fps is supported.

The processor features next-generation 5G cellular modem which enables users to experience Mixed Reality and Cloud-Gaming. The chipset has 5G’s sub-6GHz which delivers an upload speed of 1.28Gbps and download speed of 2.55Gbps. Moreover, the speed can be maximized upto 3.55Gbps with E-UTRA-NR Connectivity that combines 5G and LTE networks.

Additional features of the chipset are Bluetooth 5.0, 4-mode GNSS receiver, WiFi and FM Radio.

The rear side of the device is a triple camera setup with the 48-megapixel main shooter, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 2-megapixel depth effects lens. The device features a side-facing fingerprint sensor. The base variant of the handset is 6GB + 128GB while the higher variant is 8GB + 128GB. The device comes with Android 10 out of the box with Funtouch OS 10. It is packed with a 4500 mAh battery which supports 18W dual-engine flash charging. Talking about the price of the device, the base variant cost 1998 Yuan (Rs 21,100) and the higher edition cost 2198 Yuan (Rs 23,200). The device is available in Fog Illusion, Starlight Blue and Moon Shadow Black colour variant.
