  4. Once it is connected, a pop-up window will appear on your respective TV.
  5. Choose Gather Windows on your PC screen. This will drag all your windows simultaneously and expand your screen. You can then use it as a secondary monitor.
  6. One can mirror their MacBook screen to their Smart TV with the same steps. Select Arrangement on your Display Settings and choose the option for Mirror Display.

One can also try an alternate method to use screen mirroring and extend your display. Click on the Control Center present on your menu bar, and select the option, then choose the TV you want to mirror.

Once it is connected, you will have two options: Screen Mirroring or Extending the Display. When your work is completed, and you want to end the connection, open the same window again and select the name of your connected device.

It is important to note that, in this method type, your MacBook and the Smart TV should be on the same wireless network and switched ON.

To check for a MacBook, click the Wi-Fi icon and see the network name. For the TV, go to the Smart TV settings and ensure it is connected to the same SSID network. Your TV should be AirPlay compatible. If not, you can search for a streaming box online.

Method 2: Connect your MacBook to a Smart TV with the help of Cables

This is the secondary option for those users who don’t have AirPlay support because of older TV models (2015 or later) or the MacBook. You can use cables or wires in this case. However, there are essential factors for the type of cable you select to connect your MacBook. It depends on the PC model and its connections.

You’ll need a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter for MacBooks made in 2015 or later. You will need a Thunderbolt-to-HDMI adapter if your MacBook uses a Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 connection. If your MacBook uses a Mini DisplayPort, you will need a Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter.

You must choose between suitable means to connect your MacBook directly to a TV for this method. If your MacBook was produced in 2015 or later, you will need a USB Type-C to HDMI adapter. If it has a Thunderbolt Port of the first or second generation, you will need a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter. If your MacBook has a Mini DisplayPort, you will need a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.

The wired connection has its advantages compared to the wireless connection. Once the link is done by following the above steps, you can switch OFF your MacBook and continue to use the TV with the auxiliary accessories like a Keyboard and Mouse.
