Leak Compares RTX 40 Super GPUs With Non-Super Models

NVIDIA unveiled their all-new GeForce RTX SUPER GPUs of the 4000 series. This happened as part of their announcements for the Consumer Electronics Show 2024. These graphics cards had been in the talks for months, and now they are finally here. As of right now, NVIDIA has announced three products in this lineup, and they are as follows:

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super

NVIDIA has revealed the specifications of these three graphics cards, which gave us an idea of where they will stand against the competition. In a recent leak, we can see a presentation by NVIDIA comparing these GPUs with many existing ones.

Leaked Slide Reveals Performance Gains of the New RTX Super Family Graphics Cards

The leaked image seems like a slide from a press release displayed to some retailers based in Vietnam. The presenter of this slide was reportedly a major AIB partner of NVIDIA. Moving on to the image, it shows the relative performance of the new graphics cards. It compares their performance to that of the older non-Super RTX graphics cards.

The conditions for this performance test were 2K and 4K gaming, likely non-DLSS. Deep Learning Super Sampling, or DLSS, is a technology developed by NVIDIA to enhance the graphics of supported games using artificial intelligence. Lastly, the reference point for comparison was the GeForce RTX 4070, as its performance was marked as 100%.

First, the GeForce RTX 4070 Super showed a 10% gain in performance compared to the reference point. A bit above the list is the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super, which has a 38% gain in performance from the same reference point. Lastly, there is the GeForce RTX 4080 Super, which has a 72% leap in performance. This one sits right below the GeForce RTX 4090 (201% stronger than the reference), which is the best you can get from NVIDIA.

To put things into a clearer perspective, let us see how much stronger the Super lineup is to their non-Super versions.

The RTX 4070 Super is 10% stronger than the non-Super 4070. As mentioned earlier, the RTX 4070 was the reference. The RTX 4070 Ti Super takes a leap of 11.3% from the RTX 4070 Ti, which is 24% stronger than the RTX 4070. Lastly, the RTX 4080 Super is ahead of the RTX 4080 by almost 8.9%.

Price to Performance Value

The leaked slide also showed the price-to-performance value of all non-Super graphics cards. And that of the Superfamily has also been out. We have stated them below, along with their launch prices.

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super: 0.184 ($599)
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super: 0.172 ($799)
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super: 0.172 ($999)

To put things into perspective, these are the best graphics cards in NVIDIA’s lineup regarding the value they provide for their cost. The only non-Super card that comes close is the RTX 4070. With a score of 0.182, it holds the second place after the RTX 4070 Super. The RTX 4070 Ti Super and the RTX 4080 Super come in third and fourth places, respectively. These new cards will reach the markets in the upcoming weeks of this month (January 2024).

Before we conclude this article, it is important to mention that these scores are based on cards shared with partners. So, it is likely that they were overclocked. If that is true, we can see slight variations in the performance when the Founder Edition models by NVIDIA come out. Nonetheless, this is a good refresher of the Super lineup by NVIDIA that we last heard of in 2019.
