HTC 10 Receives Android 8.0 Oreo Update with VoLTE Support in India

Chinese smartphone manufacturer HTC’s two-year-old flagship smartphone, HTC 10, finally received the Android 8.0 Oreo update. HTC 10 was a successful product in the company’s portfolio and was the first smartphone to feature dual OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation).

The new version initially rolled out in some developed markets is now rolling out in phases as an OTA (over-the-air) update. The package weighs around 1.43 GB and comes with the version number 3.18.400.2. HTC India officially announced it on their Twitter page.

The update brings Jio VoLTE support along with the other Oreo goodies introduced by Google. The update is being rolled out in India, and if you have already received it, download the OTA file and install it. If not, wait for a couple of days or check manually by going to Settings > About > Software Updates. Users are advised to back up their data before the update to prevent data loss.

HTC didn’t mention any changelog for the update, except for the Android 8.0 Oreo update, system enhancement, and Reliance Jio VoLTE support. The updates carry the latest Oreo features, such as Picture-In-Picture, Notification Dots, Autofill Passwords, and a new settings menu. The update also includes the December 2017 security patch. The company itself claimed it didn’t leave any Android Oreo features. Also, HTC based this update on its Sense UI.

Notably, this is the last major update for the smartphone, and it will not likely get an upgrade to the next Android version. The device was first launched in May 2016 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, with a later upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat in February last year.
