Will Apple Launch an iPhone SE 4 Plus in 2025?

The iPhone SE lineup is about providing an entry-level option for someone looking for a budget iPhone. Usually, they don’t have many selling points apart from iOS, the form factor with the home button, and the chipset.

The concept with the iPhone SE models is to take a much older design, reuse it, bump the chip, and drop the price.

The iPhone SE 1 was an iPhone 5S with the SOC of the iPhone 6S. The iPhone SE 2 or iPhone SE 2020 was essentially an iPhone 8 with the chipset of the iPhone 11 (A13 Bionic). Apple later followed that up with a 5G update, giving it another new chip in 2022.

Since 2022, Apple has not updated the SE lineup. It’s still selling for $430, and there are way better options now since you can get better iPhones at the same price, like the iPhone 13.

The iPhone SE models always had weak hardware compared to the competition. LCD 60Hz panels in an era where $200 phones have 120Hz AMOLED panels, thick bezels, weak batteries, and small sensors. The iPhone SE 2025 is set to change all that.

iPhone SE 4 Plus not launching in 2025

However, there were many rumors that there will be an iPhone SE 4 Plus in 2025. As per new reports, it appears that this rumor is most likely false.

Considering other reports and Apple’s strategy for the SE, this would not make any sense. Assuming Apple prices the iPhone SE at 499$ with all the hardware upgrades, the iPhone SE Plus will at least cost 599$. That will make its price too close to much better phones like the iPhone 15.

The dummy iPhone SE units shared via Alibaba have not been verified since the sources are unspecified. We advise taking that leak with a pinch of salt. There are zero leaks from supply chain sources and other reputable reporters like Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo about a Plus model iPhone SE.

While the units on the demo match the description of iPhone SE 4 leaks, the existence of the Plus model is likely false.

The same source later heavily hints that it may not happen. This is likely because Apple’s sales of the Plus model are extremely disappointing, as they are too close to both the base model and the Pros in pricing.

The iPhone SE 4 is set to get major hardware upgrades. It will finally get rid of Touch ID in favor of Face ID. It will not get the Dynamic Island, but it will get a notch. It’ll get a 60Hz OLED display that’s over 1080P, up from ~720P LCD. However, the refresh rate will remain at 60Hz. We can also expect a single 48MP main camera and the A18 chip, with Apple’s first custom-designed modem.
