Android 8.0 Oreo Update Coming to ZTE Axon 7

ZTE Axon 7, launched in May 2016, is no longer in production, but the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will still launch an Oreo update for the device. The company confirmed that the update is just around the corner.

The company representatives said on the official EU forms that

We are announcing now that we are already developing Android 8 for the Axon 7

The smartphone was first preloaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, with an Android 7.1.1 Nougat upgrade coming later. This Android Oreo update will likely be the last major upgrade for this product.

The ZTE Axon 7 featured a 5.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and 538 ppi density with protection from Corning Gorilla Glass 4. A Quad-core processor powered it clocked at 2.15 GHz coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. It offered 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.

The camera department offered a 20 MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, phase detection autofocus, OIS, and dual-LED dual-tone flash while containing a secondary 8 MP camera with f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera can shoot 2160p @30fps, 1080p @30/60fps, 720p @240fps videos. It was backed by a Non-removable Li-Ion 3250 mAh battery and Fast charging (Quick Charge 3.0) support. It contained a rear fingerprint sensor on the rear and came with Dolby Atmos stereo speakers. It offered Ion Gold, Quartz Grey, and Chromium Silver color options, initially with a price tag of Rs. 29648.
