It looks like AMD has revealed the new GPUs that may soon hit the market, namely the Radeon RX 8600 and RX 8800, on the ROCm GitHub page.
These two new graphics cards are expected to be part of the AMD next-gen RDNA 4 family, which could be released in early 2025.
An update on ROCm (via X user @johnnync13), AMD’s software library for advanced computing, was recently made. The update includes mentions of “gfx12_rx8600” and “gfx12_rx8800.” To give you a better context, the current Radeon RX 7000, for instance, is labeled as “gfx11,” so “gfx12” refers to a next-generation GPU.
The RX 8600 will probably be a mid-ranger targeted at PC gamers seeking high performance but at an even lower price. The RX 8800 looks like a high-end gaming GPU but not the absolute top one since AMD may announce the RX 8900 in the future.
Jack Huynh, AMD’s senior vice president and general manager of computing and graphics, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that AMD has a big press event during CES 2025.

So, the Radeon RX 8000 series will likely be officially announced during the event on January 6 and the cards will be available soon after. It is also expected that Nvidia will launch the RTX 5000 series at CES 2025.
What these cards will offer has not been disclosed yet, but it appears AMD does not intend to compete directly for the ultimate top-end graphics cards, at least for now.
