Chinese brand Alcatel launched its budget smartphone U5 HD globally back in August and today it was launched in India. The Indian variant of the Alcatel U5 is somewhat tweaked at some specifications. The company which is known for its OneTouch range of smartphones decided to go for a Metallic Black and Metallic Gold giving it a premium look. Commenting on the launch Regional director of Alcatel India Praveen Valecha said: “Style and premium look are two of the most sought-after features by a smartphone user. However, customers often have to pay a premium to avail these features. At Alcatel, it has always been our endeavour to provide the premium experience at an affordable price. With the new Alcatel U5 HD, first-time smartphone buyers can now enjoy a crisp and clear viewing experience on a 5-inch HD display and some really fun camera features.”
The Alcatel U5 HD features a 5-inch HD ( 1280×720) IPS display and weighs at 129.5g. The HD IPS display gives a multi-angled immersive viewing experience with sharp and crystal clear visuals. Inside the smartphone boasts a quad-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6737 processor clocked at 1.25GHz along with a Mali-T720 on the graphics department. Now interestingly the global variant comes with 1GB of RAM whereas we are getting 2GB of RAM on the Indian variant.
As far the cameras are concerned, the device adorns a 13-megapixel primary rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. The front side sports an 8-megapixel accompanied by a flash. Camera modes include HDR, Face Mask, Instant Collage, Face Show, EIS, Selfie Album, and Face Beauty. The device is just 8.9mm thick, but It packs a 2200mAh battery that offers 4 hours talk time and 200 hours of standby time.
Powered by Android Nougat (7.0), the Alcatel U5 HD comes with preloaded apps that create instant collages just by picking pics from your gallery. The device also boasts of pre-installed antivirus and comes with an innovative battery saving features. One thing mentionable is that apart from VOLTE the U5 HD is also Vilte(Videos over LTE).
Valecha said, ”This smartphone is designed to give our valued customers the power to get the most out of every moment – all with an appealing price tag”. Truly at the price tag of Rs 5,999, the smartphone is packed with decent specs to go toe to its competition (Xiaomi Redmi 4A, iVoomi Me 3s).
