OEMs including Nokia, LG, Realme, Xiaomi, Oppo and Motorola have said that future 5G devices will be available at an even more affordable price.

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 10T 5G in the Indian market as the company’s first mid-range 5G smartphone. We see a 6.5-inch FHD+ 90Hz DynamicSwitch DotDisplay, 91% screen-to-body ratio, and an 8MP front camera inside the punch-hole. It has a Dimensity 700 chipset. There is a 5000 mAh (Typical) battery with 18W fast charging support. It is priced at Rs 14499 for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version.
Oppo A53s 5G
The A53s 5G features a 6.52-inch 720 x 1600 pixels LCD panel with up to 480 nits. It is powered by Octa-Core MediaTek Dimensity 700 7nm chipset. It runs Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1 skin. We get upto 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The battery capacity is 5000 mAh (supports 10W fast charging). The device sports a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 2MP depth and 2MP macro sensor. The A53s 5G comes at Rs 14,990 for the 6GB+128GB model. It offers Crystal Blue and Ink Black colour options.
Realme 8 5G
Realme 8 5G is the most affordable Realme 5G device in the 8 series. It packs a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor which is coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. We get a 6.5-inch Full HD+ 20:9 LCD dot display with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. It has a 48MP rear camera unit with an f/1.8 aperture along with a 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor for optics. For selfies, it sports a 16MP camera with an f/2.1 aperture. It features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor to unlock the device quickly. A huge 5000 mAh (typical) battery is paired with the phone. Poco M3 Pro 5G
If we talk about “5G mobile phone under 15000 segments” then there is an affordable Poco 5G device in the market called Poco M3 Pro 5G. It arrives as a rebranded version of the recently released Redmi Note 10 5G. It costs below 15000 rupees. As far as specs are concerned, we see MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 5G (7 nm) SoC, 5000 mAh battery, 18W charger, 48MP rear camera with f/1.79 aperture, and 6.5-inch 90Hz LCD panel. The Poco M3 Pro 5G price has been set at Rs 13999 for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version.
Conclusion
By Q4 2021 we will get a wide range of cheap 5G smartphones. In India, both Redmi and Realme brand offer smartphones based on Qualcomm’s 600 series SoC at a reasonable price. To recall, Redmi Note 8 and Realme 5 devices are powered by Snapdragon 665 chipset. They are priced below Rs 10000. In India, we may see Snapdragon 690 powered Redmi and Realme devices below Rs 15000 approximately in the second half of this year.
Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global has also tweeted that Nokia is gearing up to launch a more affordable 5G smartphone. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 690 5G SoC from Qualcomm.
Dr In-Kyung Kim, senior vice president, 5G and network technology and strategy at LG Electronics confirmed that they will also use Snapdragon 690 Mobile Platform on their device to bring 5G technology to the masses at a lower-priced.
Sergio Buniac, president, Motorola Mobility said that they will expand the 5G portfolio and will rely on the new Snapdragon 690 processor to continue to do it.
