Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Spotted on TENAA; to Arrive Before November 11

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has already released the Redmi Note 5A and Redmi 5A smartphones in China, and if rumors are correct, Xiaomi will be releasing the Redmi Note 5 soon.

The last leaks of the Xiaomi Redmi revealed it to feature five packs, an edge-to-edge 5.5-inch FHD+ resolution display ( 18:9 aspect ratio) along with 4 GB of RAM and a 4,000 mAh battery. The device will also have a dual-camera setup with a 16-megapixel camera and a 5-megapixel. However, there was confusion about whether the device will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 or a MediaTek Helio P25 processor. A new leak suggests three Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 variants and a Redmi 5 Plus, likely to debut before 11 November. Interestingly, 11 November is celebrated as Singles’ Day in China annually. This is China’s Largest Shopping day, and companies like Alibaba make record-breaking sales. Xiaomi will plan to launch the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus before this event and target maximum sales on this day.

The listings of Xiaomi phones with model numbers MET7 & MEE7 (expected to be Redmi Note 5) have been spotted on TENAA. It comes in two color variants: Gold + White and Black. It shows the same 18:9 but with an FHD+ 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution, a unibody metal design, and curved edges on the rear. The right side contains the volume rocker and power button, while the left includes the Hybrid SIM slot, which can hold 2 SIM cards or a SIM card and a micro SD card combo. However, only one camera is on the back, which will likely sport a dual camera setup on the front. The LED flash and the fingerprint sensor are below the rear camera.

The regular version of the device will pack a MediaTek Helio P25 processor along with 3GB of RAM. There will likely be two variants: one 16 GB and another 32 GB of internal storage. The high-end version will ship with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, placed between the Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 660. The Snapdragon 636 is run by Kyro 260 core. Like the Redmi Note 4 launched this year, the Redmi Note 5 will feature a fingerprint sensor in the back. Also, as stated before, the device will pack a dual-camera setup on the back. The new Redmi 5 Plus is a low-cost version featuring a 5.7-inch 18:9 HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels)  display. They placed a Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor and Adreno 506 GPU inside it.

More leaks have surfaced, including a listing on Geekbench. However, it reveals the processor to be an old msm8952 chipset, meaning Qualcomm Snapdragon 617. We are not sure, but it’s likely a mistake, and Xiaomi will not ship its new Redmi Smartphone with an old processor that powered old devices like Samsung Galaxy C5 and HTC One A9. We had observed the same Geekbench mistake on the Vivo X Plus, which claimed the same but is powered by a Snapdragon 653 chipset.

The standard version of the Redmi Note 5 with MediaTek Helio P25  is priced at 999 Yuan ( Rs 9750 approx) and 1,299 Yuan ( Rs 12,675 approx) for the 16 GB and 32 GB models, respectively. The Redmi Note 5 higher version, which comes with the Snapdragon 636 chipset and 4 GB of RAM/ 64 GB storage combo, is priced at 1,599 Yuan (Rs 15,600 approx ). As for the lower Redmi 5 Plus comes with a price tag of 799 Yuan ( Rs 7,800 approx). A new announcement regarding the Redmi Note 5 is expected to hear from Xiaomi in the next two weeks.
