Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 New Render Leaked and Spotted on Online Retailer

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi’s new smartphone, Redmi Note 5, is speculated to launch soon. The device has already passed TENNA certification. Today, a new render of the smartphone has been leaked. Additionally, Chinese online retailer JD.com listed the device, suggesting the launch is at the door.

The newly leaked render shows thin bezels with an 18:9 widescreen display. There is no fingerprint sensor on the front, likely to be placed at the back. The render also shows a dual camera set up on the front accompanied by an LED flash. The device was shown with a golden color in the render. The Redmi Note 5 will have a metal back and is expected to support dual SIM support. The device will run the new MIUI 9 on top of Android 7.1 Nougat and is backed by a 4,000 mAh battery. Connectivity options include WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS GLONASS, and IR blaster.

About the listing on the Chinese website JD.com, the listing didn’t contain any image of the device, though it revealed some vital info. After several reports spotted the listing, the listing was pulled down, giving a small glimpse. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 was priced at CNY 8,888, likely a placeholder and not the phone’s official price. The listing also confirmed the device’s bezel-less display with an 18:9 display aspect ratio.

We know the Redmi Note 5 will feature a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution from the previous TENNA listings. The spec sheet also mentioned an octa-core processor clocked at 2 GHz. The chipset is speculated to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 with Adreno 509 GPU. The listing, however, mentions a single 12 MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 5 MP single camera on the front, which contradicts the rumor that the device will feature a dual-camera setup on the front.

The device is speculated to launch in three different storage options: 3 GB RAM + 32 GB internal memory and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB internal memory. The smartphone is expected to be priced at about 1,000 Yuan (Rs 10,000 approx) for the base model and is expected to be available in the following colors: Black, Rose Gold, Gold, White, Blue, Red, Pink, Grey, and Silver. Its predecessor, the Redmi Note 4, was launched in January after a price reduction, making it one of the top-selling smartphones of Xiaomi this year. They will be likely to do the same to the Redmi Note 5.
