Samsung SM-J337 Spotted at GFXBench; Could be Higher Variant of Galaxy J3 2017

Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 was launched earlier in June. It had the model number SM-J330. Now, a new Samsung smartphone was spotted in the listings of GFXBench carrying the model number SM-J337, which hints it is a higher variant of the Samsung Galaxy J3 2017.

From the spec sheet, the Samsung SM-J337 sports a 5-inch multi-touch screen with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. A 1.5GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 processor and a Mali-G71 GPU will power the device. The device offers 2 GB of RAM (1.6 GB mentioned) and 16 GB of internal storage, of which only 9 GB will be available for the user to use.

The Samsung SM-J337 carries an 8 MP on the rear with an LED flash. The camera has capabilities like Auto Focus, Touch Focus, Face Detection, and 1080p video recording support. The front will have a 5 MP camera that can record 1080p videos. The device will be running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Other connectivity will be 4G LTE (Bands 2/3/5/7/12), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Hotspot, Bluetooth V 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and more. The spec list also mentions sensors like an accelerometer, Proximity, Gyroscope, and Compass.

Compared with the Samsung Galaxy J3, the new variant gets a chipset upgrade from 1.4GHz quad to 1.5GHz quad-core. The rear camera gets upgraded from 5 MP to 8 MP and the front from 2 MP to 5 MP. The RAM and internal storage remain almost the same. We also expect the battery to be around 3000 mAh compared to the 2600 mAh from the J3.

The recent listing from GFXBench suggests the device will be released this month or the next. There are no available renders, though we expect the design to be the same. An announcement from Samsung is expected soon.
