OPPO’s New Patent Shows iPhone X Like Display; Could be Oppo R13

OPPO is one of the most innovative smartphone companies in the world. OPPO’s list of innovations contains very regular technologies like Beauty function, Motorised Rotating Camera, and VOOC charge. The company was the first to pioneer HDR and High-Speed Recording. Also, their previous patents reveal a Foldable smartphone in work that can bend easily. A new OPPO patent was leaked today, which is related to display technology.

2017 was a year of bezel-less and full-screen display. We have seen various types of displays like complete three-side bezel-less displays like the Mi MIX 2, displays with narrow bezels on top and bottom with curved edges like the infinity display of Samsung Note 8, bezel-less displays with a section on top like the Apple iPhone X display and other displays with small modifications. Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, and OnePlus feature a big display with small bezels and a fingerprint sensor at the front or back.

A user on the Chinese media platform Weibo leaked the new OPPO patent, revealing a touchscreen with a slit on top. The design looks like the latest display of the Apple iPhone X with no bezels. According to the image, the patent was filed on January 9, 2017, and its date of authorization proclamation is September 29, 2017.

Whether OPPO will use its new design in the upcoming smartphones is unclear. But we have seen images with this design suggesting the device could be Oppo R13. The front view of the Oppo R13 features a virtual home bar. On the backside, the device has vertically stacked dual rear cameras along with a neon green logo of the company. The phone will be available in two color options: black and white.
