OPPO A79 and OPPO A73 with 16 MP Front Camera Spotted on TENAA

OPPO recently released its selfie-centric smartphone F5 and will release the R11S on November 2. Now, OPPO is planning to launch more devices this year. OPPO devices bearing model no. A73 and A79 have been spotted on the TENAA certification website. The two devices will be mid-rangers with bezel-less displays as an additional attraction.

Both the OPPO A73 and A79 share almost similar design. Both smartphones feature a no-bezel-less design. There is a thin bezel at the top for the front camera but no bezel on either the left or right side or at the bottom. It’s like the Mi Mix 2 turned upside down.

The OPPO A73 will feature a 6-inch 18:9 aspect ratio  Full HD+ (2160 x 1080) display powered by an unknown octa-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz. It will have 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. The optics department features a 13 MP camera at the rear and a 16 MP camera at the top, making it selfie-centric. It features a fingerprint sensor and an LED flash on the back. The device measures 156.5 x 76 x 7.5mm. There will be two color variants of the OPPO A73: black and gold.

The OPPO A79 is like the big brother of the A73. It has an 18:9 aspect ratio larger display, which measures 6.01 inches. It’s an AMOLED screen that has a resolution of Full HD+  (2160 x 1080) pixels. It also features an Octa-core chipset clocked at 2.5 GHz but has 4 GB of RAM and internal storage of 64 GB, which is expandable up to 128 GB using a micro SD card. The device has a similar circular fingerprint scanner and an LED flash at the back. In the camera department, the device sports a 16 MP camera on both the rear and front sides, with the rear one being a CMOS sensor. It will likely support Auto-focus, 1080p video recording, and some common camera modes. The device measures 157.3 × 76 × 7.2mm. There will be three color variants of the OPPO A73: black, gold, and blue.

Both OPPO devices will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat straight out of the box, but its battery backups are different. The A73 will feature a 3,115mAh battery while the A79 will sport a smaller 2900 mAh battery, which is odd considering its bigger screen. Both devices will have 4G LTE support, standard connectivity options, and features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 3.5 audio jack. The A73 also weighed more at 152 g, while the A79 weighed 140 g.

There is no news about the price or availability, but the TENAA certification hints that the device will be announced soon. The devices may be announced with the launch of Oppo R11S and R11S Plus, which is expected to create a massive demand for which OPPO has already prepared a stock of around 10 million units.
