Nokia 7 Becomes Official, Comes with “Bothie” Mode

HMD Global, which manufactures Nokia’s smartphones, has announced its latest smartphone in China. Dubbed the Nokia 7, it’s the first Android device from the company to feature a glass back along with an aluminum frame. It has a 5.2-inch 1080p screen, a 2.5 curved display, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

HMD Global teased a phone two days ago with a Bothie feature to be launched on October 19. So when HMD Global was invited for its press event, many people expected to hear about the long-awaited Nokia 7. And today, they finally announced its latest Nokia Android series member- the Nokia 7. The Nokia 7 will be the first smartphone to feature a glass body in two colors: Gloss Black and Matt White. The device doesn’t seem to follow any bezel trend of 2017, as thick bezels are on the top and bottom. The device will go for all virtual buttons with the fingerprint sensor on the back.

Under the hood, the Nokia 7 will feature an Octa-Core Snapdragon 630 chipset and an Adreno 508 GPU. It will be supported by 4 GB or 6 GB of LPPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB internal memory, which is expandable up to 128 GB with micro SD. It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat but is most likely upgradeable to Android 8.0 Oreo. The device is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery, which supports 18W fast charging. The device will also not follow the trend of ditching the good old 3.5 mm headphone jack. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, GPS and NFC.

In the optics department, the Nokia 7 sports a 16-megapixel camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a dual-tone LED flash. On the front, it sports a 5-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and an 84-degree field-of-view for video calling and shooting selfies. Inspired by the Nokia 8, the Nokia 7 features the “Dual-SightTechnology,” which allows the user to take pictures and videos using the front and back camera simultaneously or, should I say, “Bothies,” as Nokia prefers to say. Nokia 7 also uses Carl Zeiss optics and built-in OZO technology to provide 360-degree crystal clear sound.

As stated earlier, The Nokia 7 will come in two colors and be available in China from October 24. The pricing is CNY 2,499 (Rs 24,600 approx) for the regular version, which has 4 GB of RAM, and CNY 2,699 ( Rs 26,500 approx ) for the 6 GB variant, which will put up against the Moto X4, which will arrive in India on November 13. HMD Global released the Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3 in February this year, and in August, it released its flagship smartphone, Nokia 8, for Rs 36,999 in India. They are also reportedly working on two new smartphones, the Nokia 2 and the Nokia 9, which are rumored to launch at MWC 2018 in Barcelona.
